ILS Academy

What is it?

The ILS Academy is the brand new training arm of the Independent Living Showroom in Kingston Park. We are the North East’s specialists in independent and adapted living and have set up the ILS Academy to share our experience and that of our network of experts to help those in the healthcare arena keep abreast of the latest NPD, care packages and trends in the industry. Fully CPD accredited, we will offer a rolling programme of free events on a range of topics and areas of interest.

Benefits include:

  • Quality off-the-job training in our state-of-the-art, fully accessible and interactive mobility showroom.
  • Our events will combine theoretical and practical skills to offer a valuable insight into different aspects of healthcare.
  • The opportunity to learn from recognised industry experts and care professionals.
  • Receive nationally accredited qualifications.

Our next event: Life doesn’t stop – lifestyle solutions for maintaining independence at home.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our planned ILS Academy event for this Friday, 21st October 2016. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
We do intend to run our ‘Life doesn’t stop: lifestyle solutions for maintaining independence at home’ event on a future date and will keep you posted. In the meantime your feedback with regards to our ILS Academy events is still very important to us so feel free to get in touch.
Thank you for your interest in and support for the ILS Academy.

‘Person-centered’ strategies for patient care and legal issues – working together to improve independent living

Our first event, ‘Person-centered’ strategies for patient care and legal issues – working together to improve independent living’, was a big success. Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us.

Our guest speakers, Vicky McGurk from community complex care provider, Pulse Community Healthcare and Alistair McDonald from TLW law firm, proved to be very engaging and knowledgeable speakers who shared their specialist knowledge and experience with the delegates alongside answering questions and adding to the discussions that followed.

Delegates who attended said ‘the subject matter and information discussed was relevant to my needs’ and that they ‘would attend future ILS Academy events’.

All in all a really great first event which generated a lot of good discussion and feedback which we’ll we now use to make sure the ILS Academy goes from strength to strength.

We want the ILS Academy to be useful and, going forward, designed with maximum input from our delegates and potential attendees. Let us know if you have any feedback – what would work best for you? days/times/locations? What topics and themes would benefit you? Tell us here.
